Aquatic Centre Closure to Upgrade Facility Efficiency and Reliability
The Kimberley Aquatic Centre is undergoing a comprehensive upgrade project. In light of this work, the facility will be temporarily closed to the public from September 4th to October 3rd.
Work includes the installation of new boilers, heat exchangers, and a pool filtration system. This investment, totaling $748,515.00, aims to address persistent maintenance challenges and equipment failures that have occurred over the past three years.
Nicole Halasz, Manager of Parks and Facilities, emphasized that the project is designed to occur in two phases. The first phase will take place from September to October, followed by the second phase scheduled to begin January and last approximately 4-weeks. These phases will ensure minimal disruption to the aquatic centre's operations.
"The decision to invest in these replacements was prompted by the need to overcome the ongoing maintenance issues that have affected the facility's performance," Halasz stated. "By installing state-of-the-art boilers, efficient heat exchangers, and a modern pool filtration system, we are confident that the Kimberley Aquatic Centre will emerge as a more reliable, energy-efficient, and enjoyable venue for the community."
During the closure period, the administrative staff of the Aquatic Centre will be available to assist the community in registering for the upcoming October-December programming. Residents are encouraged to check the city's website for regular project updates and progress reports on the renovation.
