Planning for Pets During an Evacuation Alert
If you are in an Evacuation Alert area, planning for pets should be part of your preparedness. Make a grab-and-go bag for your pet, just like you would for yourself. This helps ensure their safety and comfort in the event of an evacuation.
Here is a great checklist of things to have assembled and ready to go:
☐ Leash, collar, and ID tag
☐ Crate or pet carrier (label with your name and phone number)
☐ Food and water (enough for at least 3-5 days)
☐ Food and water dishes
☐ Pet medications (if needed)
☐ Vaccination records or vet information
☐ Waste bags, litter, or cleaning supplies
☐ Comfort items (toys, blankets, bedding)
☐ Photo of your pet (in case of separation)
