Come & celebrate National Public Works Week in conjunction with Drinking Water Week! We are very excited about participating in National Public Works Week and we encourage the entire community to join us in celebrating. In accordance with the tradition of the Public Works Association, everyone who works in professions that provide and maintain public facilities and services
will be honoured during the week of May 18 - 24, 2025.
WHAT: Public Works Open House and Dam Tours (Dam Tours - limited seating available so sign up early– see below for more information)
WHERE: Kimberley’s Public Works Yard 250 Knighton Road, Kimberley
WHEN: Wednesday May 21st, 2025 8:30 am to 3:00 pm
Lunch will be provided beginning at 11:00 AM
WHY: To celebrate Public Works Professionals and the communities they serve. This event is help increase public awareness of the contributions made by Public Works Professionals and to highlight their duties, practices, expertise and goals. Public Works Professionals are the people who maintain and improve the systems and services vital to a community’s health, safety and comfort.
Hot dog and hamburger lunch beginning at 11:00.
Bring the kids and see the displays and presentations including:
1. Parks - Zamboni, Tractor, Field Sweeper
2. Heavy Equipment & Automotive Shop
3. Bylaw Station
4. Utilities Department
5. Pollution Control Centre photos and information.
6. Sewer Systems Vactor Hydro-Excavator Truck
7. Motor Grader
8. Mini Excavator
9. Front End Loader
This is a free event and everyone is welcome to attend.

We’re Giving Tours of The Dam! Mark Creek Dam Guided Walking Tour – Wednesday, May 21, 2025
Have you ever wanted to get up close and personal with our watershed? Here’s your chance! In conjunction with Public Works Day, the City is offering two walking tours of the Mark Creek Dam.
If you’d like to join in, please contact us at 250-427-9660.
There is a limited number of participants, call now to reserve your seat. You must be physically able to walk for the duration of the tour (one hour). Please wear suitable clothing and sturdy footwear.
- Morning tour departs at 8:30 AM and returns at 11:30 AM
- Afternoon tour departs at 12:00 noon and returns at 3:00 PM
Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to learn more about our water! This is a free event and we welcome community members to attend. We encourage people who have not yet taken this tour to participate! Please call the Operations Department to reserve your spot @ 250-427-9660 or if you have any questions. A maximum of 4 individuals can be booked at one time and by one person. Ages 12+. Bring younger children to the Public Works Yard for fun demonstrations and lunch! Thank you!
