National AccessAbility Week!
National AccessAbility Week runs from May 31 to June 6, with this year’s theme: Building a Strong, Accessible Canada.
In Kimberley, accessibility is about creating a community where everyone, regardless of age or ability, can participate fully in daily life. Our Age-Friendly Accessibility Plan, endorsed by Council in 2025, helps guide that work, shaped by input from residents, service providers, and community partners.
What this looks like in action:
Prioritizing improvements to outdoor spaces, transportation, housing, and communication so everyday experiences are more accessible
Working alongside the Accessibility Advisory Committee to keep local perspectives at the centre of decision-making
Making our communications clearer and easier to navigate so more people can access information
Continuing community conversations to better understand barriers and opportunities across Kimberley
Accessibility is a shared effort, and progress happens thanks to the people who speak up, get involved, and help us do better.
Thank you to our Accessibility Advisory Committee, community partners, and residents for helping build a more inclusive Kimberley.
