City Invites Public Input into Downtown Urban Design Strategy
The City of Kimberley is excited to launch the public engagement phase of the "Keeping it Kimberley" Downtown Urban Design Strategy. The strategy will provide a blueprint to manage growth, sustain livability, and guide investments and enhancements in the downtown over time.
The planning process includes engaging with residents, community members, organizations, and businesses to identify ways to increase inclusivity, resilience, and livability in the downtown in anticipation of the future needs of the community.
The public engagement phase begins today, January 30, 2023, with the launch of the public feedback page at www.engagekimberley.ca. There the community can view the project purpose, vision and guiding principles and provide comments through our mapping tool or ask questions and share ideas.
The public is also welcome to participate in-person at an Open House on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Centennial Hall (100-4th Ave) from 6:00–8:00 pm. Participants will learn about the project and get a chance to tell us what is working well in the downtown and where there are opportunities for improvement. Feedback will help shape the vision for downtown. Refreshments will be provided and attendees will be entered into a draw for a door prize.
"The downtown area is the heart of our community and we want to ensure that it reflects the unique character and values of Kimberley," said Troy Pollock, Manager of Planning and Sustainability. "We encourage everyone to participate in the public engagement process and help shape its future. We look forward to working together with residents and stakeholders to create a vibrant and sustainable downtown for generations to come.”
