City-wide Drone Mapping Getting Underway
The City of Kimberley’s aerial photography is ready for an update!
Beginning as early as Friday, October 30, Booker Technical Services will conduct drone mapping throughout Kimberley, with flights continuing through November 14, 2026, as weather permits.
The updated aerial photography and mapping data will support City planning, infrastructure management and future capital projects.
Residents may notice a large drone flying approximately 75 metres above ground in different areas of the community during this period. These are scheduled, City-authorized flights operated by experienced professionals and conducted in accordance with applicable airspace and privacy regulations.
The drone is being used to capture aerial imagery for mapping purposes, not to monitor individual people or properties.
Residents do not need to report this scheduled drone activity to police. Please give the pilot space to work, stay clear of takeoff and landing areas, and do not interfere with the flights.
Thank you for helping this work proceed safely.
or, more importantly, for play!
